The clear glass doors on Nicky Hilton's built-in {above}, remind me of
Liza Giles' French armoire {below} in her London flat. I quite like the idea of the transparent doors, which is similar to using library storage for pretty shoes and clutches, in which the items themselves become decorative, as opposed to being hidden away, adding dashes of colour and interest to a room.

And while we're on the subject of closet space, I thought of Swedish stylist Sasa Antic's adorable and perfectly planned closet. While I might hesitate at the idea of pinching the tops of my leather boots with clips, I love the look of this space, and must admit that it's a pretty clever space-saving idea.

{random inspiration}

I instantly fell for the idea of using library storage as a sophisticated display case, because some shoes and clutches are little works of art and far too pretty to hide away. {For a sleeker alternative, I also found a similar style in stainless steel at an antique shop.}

A charming built-in shelf beneath a kitchen window provides a space for two with a view . . .

A glass-topped table is a great workspace with room for storage and display, perfect for your stylish pens and keepsakes.

British girls Lucy and Fiona are behind Malinki, a company that sources French tailors' mannequins, known to be among the finest in the world, and upholsters them in bright florals and vintage silks, as well as bespoke options.

I once saw a glass etching project in a book that looked fantastic, but also a little difficult . . . And being hopelessly short on time these days, I was happy to discover Brume window film, which has an etched glass effect, offers privacy, yet still lets in natural light. You can also customize designs with an inspirational quote or any combination of patterns, numbers, and letters.

{French metal garden furniture, Victoria}

It's official: I have Spring fever, and the desire to fill every room with large, bright, beautiful blossoms and French garden furniture and café chairs . . . I love the rustic appeal and vintage elegance it adds to a space, and of course, the feeling of bringing the outdoors in.

{at home with : jean-charles boisset & gina gallo-boisset, san francisco}

. . . and for all those swept away by yesterday's feather chandeliers, upholstered walls and chrome consoles, happily happened upon more glimpses of the san francisco pied-à-terre of wine-makers, jean-charles boisset and his wife, gina gallo-boisset, whose sixteenth floor apartment is filled with mirrored french doors, table lamps, black-shaded torcheres and crystal sconces by baccarat, shimmering cabriolet chairs & settees, chandeliers and silver-leaf ceilings . . .

{natalie portman + té casan}

Good news for vegans {like my sister} searching for stylish shoes: the always beautiful Natalie Portman has teamed up with Té Casan to design a line of footwear.

"As a vegan, it's been challenging finding designer shoes made of alternative materials. This collection offers a great selection without compromising quality or style."

Not surprisingly, all proceeds are donated to the Nature Conservancy, a non profit organization that protects ecologically fragile lands and bodies of water.
