{two lovely things: same room, different light}

. . . happened across these photographs quite by accident and weeks apart, drawn to the striking combination of grand chandelier and gilt mirror, only to discover they were of the same room, in different light -- the first, warm rays and soft greys with a glimmer of gold, and the second, a more casual, rustic elegance, in deeper shades of slate and cobalt -- the difference is like spring and autumn . . .

{p.s.} more two lovely things

Beautiful room! I would opt for the top photo where the room appears grey, I am loving the mirror and chandlier. Your blog is wonderful, it has an elegant feel and the content is always so unique and glamorous!

You have a very good eye to pick up on a lighting change....I might have missed that distinction. Have a lovely week. XO

Love the light in the first image and how the rooms looks more grey. How fabulous to see the same room in different lighting. Proof that lighting is so important!

That is so neat! The paint almost looks purple in the bottom image. I would love a chandelier just like this one.

oh my gosh...that's so crazy it's the same room. At first glance it wouldn't appear that way at all. What a cool comparison.

The changing light is incredible isn't it ? The reason all those great artists gravitated to Provence. My preference is for the room in the second picture - moodier & more mysterious but it is a fabulous room in whichever light. Julie.

That's too funny – I have never seen that first photo before, but the lighting certainly makes the bedroom look and feel different than the second.
