Awoke to the rather shocking news of the passing of Dublin-born interior designer and architect, David Collins, in the early hours of Tuesday morning.  His work has appeared here many times, all velvet and marble, and his magic has touched some of the world's most glamorous and iconic restaurants, bars and boutiques, including The Wolseley, and Claridge's Bar.  Initially trained as an architect, David move almost accidentally into interior design after being asked to design a friend’s home -- and the rest, as they say, is history.

"He adored glamour and beautiful things, and was always rushing off to Loro Piana to buy his mother something fabulous. He had a great sense of humour - he could make you cry with laughter." —Fiona Golfar, Vogue editor-at-large
